What A Difference A Week Makes | Seattle Cat Photography

I want to share this little guy with you EVEN though he got adopted this week.

Meet Roger Rabbit.

I want to show you what a difference a week makes (and what happens when you get the chance to shine when your littermate leaves and you get the space to yourself!).

The first photo was from just a week ago when he was hiding behind his buddy Thomas so much that he was being sat on. Scared at loud noises, but obviously curious, he wasn’t as ready as the bolder Thomas.

The other four images were ones I took THIS week when Roger was showing off for me, interacting so much I didn’t want to say goodbye.

TLC and just a little bit of time often will let kitties come out of their shells and this is the gold we are reaching for.

I didn’t want to say goodbye that day because I knew from the way he had finally come into his own, he would be getting a forever home almost right away. I was right. He was adopted later that day. And I am SO HAPPY for him.

And so starts another year of successful kitty adoptions!!

Get your 2018 Cat Calendar! | Seattle Cat Photography

It’s that time!! I’m so excited to say that I’ve finished designing the 2018 calendar for Seattle Area Feline Rescue and it’s ready to go! It’s always so hard for me to narrow down all the photos that I take in the year of all the rescue kitties and choose JUST twelve for it, but I eventually decided (no small feat).

38471966281_5df34b7ced_o.pngSo how do I choose?

First of all, I usually choose some of my favorite photos and kitties – they represent me, after all! And I want everyone to be seeing beautiful images all year long. Secondly, I try to put cats in the calendar that have awesome rescue stories, since we get so many kitties that come through with memorable tales that are hard to forget. It’s also so important to what we do at our rescue, since we take in so many difficult cases and it’s always so wonderful when those cats get their forever homes. Thirdly, I try to show a variety of the kind of cases and cats that come through our doors: we get everything from bottle babies to seniors, from cats who are highly special-needs cases to ones that would seem to be adoptable at first sight. We get our kitties from all over: Eastern WA, California, Hawaii, and this year, from the floods of Texas and the wildfires of California, but I can’t all of them in; alone I do my ‘special photos’ of hundreds, but we adopt out over a thousand a year (which is a lot for a small rescue). I’m so proud!

And the cover goes to…

DIETZ.

This kitty was the lucky bidder (well, his mama was) at our annual benefit in September for a chance to be on the cover of the calendar, so I went over to his house to get his photos…the above were some outtakes. Stealing catnip, enjoying a lot of catnip, cleaning himself… But his cover image is VERY handsome. He will be very pleased.

Details: THE CALENDAR is 11″ x 17″ wire-bound, lots of room to write, and I included2018 preview lots of cool cat holidays. The paper stock is a smooth satin finish that is nice to write on, and of course, has 13 glorious kitties for you to gaze upon.

Below is the link to the form to order the calendar; you can pre-order now (they will be at the rescue for pickup on Black Friday/Nov 24 or there is an option for them to be mailed). $19.99 in person, or $24.99 with S&H.

Every calendar helps support the rescue; keep these kitties in your home all year long! They make perfect holiday gifts and this batch might sell out so order right away.

Wings of Rescue Holiday Airlift 11.18.16 | Seattle Pet Photography

When I hear that there is another airlift coming in thanks to Wings of Rescue, I always jump at the chance to document it. I feel like it’s such a special thing to be even a small part of these missions, especially when I think about the magnitude of what is being done, and how many people are involved, and how many pets are being helped.

Dogs and cats were flown from the Los Angeles area (they fly out of Van Nuys airport), where there are high euthanasia rates and severe overcrowding issues in shelters. In the words of Wings of Rescue, they are ‘pleased to announce that because of [your] generous support, we are flying 787 cats and dogs who otherwise would not have seen Thanksgiving to no kill shelters throughout the United States and Canada this weekend. We would like to thank all of our donors, our fabulous volunteers, our receiving and sending shelter partners for helping make this happen! If you would like to help us continue our life-saving transports – please donate by clicking here www.wingsofrescue.org/donate

Here is a slideshow of just some of the photos from that afternoon; I have the full album up on my Flickr photostream (CLICK ON THAT LINK!!), and I’d love for you for check them ALL out, but these give you a look at this wonderful day for these dogs and cats, as they arrive in Washington.

When you realize that this is only a fraction of the animals that were flown out that day, and that we even met FIVE PLANES here in the Seattle area, it’s mind-boggling to think of the need that is out there. They come here because of the higher adoption rates, the shortened adoption time, and the second chances we can give them. We are one big rescue community, all volunteering to give these precious lives a new start. The pilots volunteer their time and the use of their planes, and the ASPCA assists. It takes many shelters and rescues to take in all the animals on the receiving end. It fills my heart with so much happiness to know that there is so much compassion out there to get this done.

Make sure to keep up with all my rescue photography for Seattle Area Feline Rescue, as well as the exciting work I do for clients and other projects over on MY FACEBOOK PAGE. I’d love to stay in touch and keep talking! I hope this ‘tail’ touched your heart! Leave a note and let me know if it did. Sending peace and love out there!20161118-wings-of-rescue-web-lr-55

A Cat’s Holiday Wish | Seattle Cat Photography

Wishing you the Happiest of Holidays, whatever you celebrate at this time of the year. And mostly, warmth and love for all those animals out there that need homes. I believe that there’s the right home out there for every one of them. Peace and love to you all!

Bend Xmas 3A

I took these photos of Bend just before Christmas, as he had been waiting a while to get adopted, hoping that our holiday campaign would get him noticed and that it would get him a home for the holidays. As luck would have it,  just as I was finishing processing them, Bend found a home; funnily enough, several otherBend 2 web times this has happened too, for other cats… It’s as if I’ve sent some kind of energy out there to say “Adopt this cat, his photos are almost ready!”. But here they are anyway. I’m thrilled to pieces that Bend has found a home. He had fast become a favorite of mine at the rescue, waiting far too long, in my opinion. I was so happy to see him every time I went in to the rescue and it’s always bittersweet to see a favorite cat start their new life. Wishing you a long and happy one, Bend. You beautiful boy!
